Children's factual programme based around questions that start with the word "How?" In 1990 Children's ITV decided to bring back a programme which started in 1966 called How?. This time they called it How 2, although the format of the programme is the same as the original. The presenters sit around a table in a white studio and take turns to present an item to the viewer. Each item is introduced with a question that starts with the word "How". These are questions like "How tall is the tallest building in the world?", and "How can I ski uphill?". The presenter then uses props, pictures, video clips, and sometimes even special guests to help answer the question. The final item in each programme in introduced by one presenter, but is explained with the help of all the presenters. At the end of each programme, the presenters sign off together with the shows catchphrase "…and that's How for now!". The presenters of the first series of How 2 were Fred Dinenage (returning from the original How), Gareth Jones, and Carol Vorderman. Carol Vorderman left the programme in 1996 and was replaced by Sian Lloyd for the 1997 series. Sian Lloyd left after doing one series, and was replaced by Gail Porter in the 1998 series. Due to changes in CITV's schedule, How 2 was moved from the end of the year, to the start of the year. This meant that there was no 1999 series, but the series did return at the start of the year 2000. For this series, Gail Porter was replaced by Gail McKenna, who still presents the programme today. How 2 is made by the Scottish Media Group (SMG) for ITV. |
