Children's arts and crafts programme

Art Attack has been running on CITV since 1989, presented by Neil Buchanan.

Each programme features a number of items. These will usually be a demonstration of a particular artistic technique, or something that children could make using things that they can find around the house. The art-based items range from simple tips for drawing cartoons to masterful pictures of landscapes using a variety of media. Each item is thought up by Neil Buchanan himself, and then developed by the production team with input from Neil.

In the middle of each programme Neil Buchanan makes one of his trademark "Big Art Attacks". These are usually filmed outdoors, but sometimes take place within the Art Attack studio. The Big Art Attack sequences do not contain any original sound, but instead have a music soundtrack with occasional pieces of dubbing and/or voiceover from Neil Buchanan.

Big Art Attacks are usually made using materials that relate to the subject of the picture. A well-known example of this, is the famous Big Art Attack in which Neil Buchanan made a picture of the queen using £250,000 in real ten pound notes. The money for the sequence was lent by the Bank of England, and the whole thing had to be shot overnight with security guards watching.

Art Attack is a Media Merchants production for CITV.
