Children's adventure series about two boys who find an ancient machine in a hole in the ground Tom and Geoff are two school boys who are exploring the countryside while on holiday. They find a machine buried underground along with a skeleton, and a lot of artefacts from roman times. The machine has the word "AQUILA" written on it. Tom and Geoff soon find out that they can sit inside the machine and steer it like a car. However, Aquila has no wheels. It just floats above the air. When they realise that there is more to Aquila than meets the eye, they do their very best to keep it a secret. They decide not to tell any adults because the adults might take Aquila away from them. One of the first things they find out about Aquila is that it can make itself completely invisible. It can also speak to the people inside it by means of writing that appears hovering in front of the windscreen. Unfortunately, its last user set it to speak Latin, so the boys had to learn some Latin before they could tell it to speak in English. As they story unfolds, the boys find out more and more about Aquila and where it came from, all the while trying to keep it a secret. There were two series of Aquila in all. The first was broadcast in late 1997 on Children's BBC, and the second in late 1998. The first series was written by Andrew Norriss. The second series was written by both Andrew Norriss and Richard Fegen. Related Amazon Product - Click for more |
