Nostalgia quiz presented by Clive Anderson Throughout the 1990's, Channel 4's Countdown was always accompanied by Fifteen-to-One. That programme ended in early 2004, and in its place appeared the short-lived Beat the Nation. After Beat the Nation ended, Countdown appeared without an accompanying game show for about a year, and it looked like Channel 4 had decided that the time slot was more suited to antique-selling and house-buying programmes. However in 2005, Back in the Day appeared, and it seemed that mid-afternoon Channel 4 game shows were to make a comeback. Back in the Day is a simple history quiz. Its questions are based on big events (or small news items) from the last five decades, that is: the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Most rounds involve identifying news items and working out when they happened. There are no prizes because the show is a comedy panel game played by regulars, who included: Hugh Dennis, Linda Smith, Barry Cryer, Steve Punt, John Seargent, Paula Wilcox and Arabella Weir. Back in the Day was made by Celador and broadcast on Channel 4 in 2005. |
