Travel series presented by Michael Palin In Around the World in 80 Days, Michael Palin attempts to circumnavigate the globe without using any form of air travel whatsoever. The journey was inspired by the Jules Verne novel of the same name and Michael Palin's attempt began "one hundred and fifteen years, three hundred and fifty-six days, and ten and three-quarter hours" after that of Phileas Fogg. The journey began on 25 September 1988 and ended on 12 December 1988 (exactly 79 days and 7 hours later). In that time, Michael Palin travelled through 14 countries and covered 28,000 miles. He began in London, travelled through Europe, the Middle East and then Asia. He crossed the Pacific on a ship, and then travelled across the USA. Another ship took him from America to the British Isles, where his journey ended. Related Amazon Product - Click for more |
